Michael J. Schofield
Overview
Mr. Schofield is a USPTO-registered patent attorney with over a decade of experience working in intellectual property law. He focuses his practice on preparing and prosecuting domestic and international patent applications primarily in the areas of mechanical, electrical, and chemical arts.
Mr. Schofield takes time with inventors to understand all aspects of their intellectual property so he can help protect it. He also works with his clients to identify infringement and patentability issues.
Mr. Schofield began his career as a mechanical engineer designing duct burner systems and continuous emissions systems for power plants. He then spent several years designing test hardware for semiconductor devices. As an engineer, Mr. Schofield came to appreciate the value of protecting intellectual property. It was this appreciation that led him to enroll in law school.
Before joining Scheef & Stone, Mr. Schofield worked as a senior IP counsel at a large company focused on electrifying the commercial transportation industry. Before that, he worked as an attorney at other Texas law firms.
A registered patent attorney, Mr. Schofield has over 13 years of experience in patent law. He has worked at multiple law firms and as a senior corporate counsel.
