Overview

Steven Coffin is an Associate in Scheef & Stone’s Litigation section, focusing on complex commercial and civil litigation. He represents businesses of all sizes, from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies, providing counsel on a wide range of business and corporate law matters.

Steven’s practice includes advising clients on corporate governance, human resources compliance and risk mitigation strategies, helping businesses remain compliant and avoid litigation pitfalls. He takes pride in ensuring that businesses, whether emerging or established, are poised for growth and equipped to navigate potential legal challenges.

In addition to litigation, Steven advises clients on corporate governance issues and assists businesses with completing essential corporate filings and documentation. His practice spans various industries, including construction, environmental services and government contracting, where he focuses on compliance and employment matters. He has a strong belief that effective communication is essential to client representation, ensuring that his clients are well-informed and confident about the legal strategies employed on their behalf.

Before joining Scheef & Stone, Steven practiced at a prominent law firm in Arizona, focusing on commercial litigation, breach of contract disputes, fraud claims, and labor and employment matters. His litigation experience covers the entire legal process, from case intake through trial, enabling him to deliver comprehensive legal solutions.

During law school, Steven clerked for a Texas state district judge and worked with U.S. Senator Ted Cruz in Washington, D.C., where he conducted legal research and prepared memoranda on various legislative topics.

His legal education at Texas Tech was marked by his involvement in negotiations and mock trial competitions as part of the Board of Barristers. He also served as articles editor for the Estate Planning and Community Property Law Journal and was an active member of the Federalist Society and Phi Alpha Delta, where he served as treasurer.
