Overview

Alexis Cantu is an Associate in Scheef & Stone’s Litigation section. Prior to joining the firm, Alexis served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Texas, where she handled complex civil matters and appellate work. She brings strong research and writing skills, a thoughtful approach to strategy, and a commitment to achieving practical, client-focused results.

Alexis has experience across a broad range of litigation matters, including property disputes, business litigation, tax-related issues, and family law. She enjoys the analytical challenges of litigation and working closely with clients to guide them through every stage of the legal process.

Before joining Scheef & Stone, Alexis served as an Assistant Attorney General in Austin, where she drafted motions for summary judgment, conducted research on sales and use tax issues, reviewed and compiled discovery evidence, and second-chaired two appellate cases.

Alexis previously practiced at Cantu & Cantu Law Firm in Dallas, where she drafted legal memoranda and briefs in the areas of Texas Property Law, Business Law, and Family Law. She submitted an Appellant’s Brief before the Fifth District Court of Appeals and successfully mediated multiple divorce cases that resulted in favorable outcomes for her clients.

During law school, Alexis gained valuable experience through several externships. She served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Justice Reichek at the Fifth District Court of Appeals, where she drafted memoranda and an appellate opinion. She also externed with the Federal Public Defender’s Office and participated in the Tax Dispute Resolution Clinic, successfully negotiating favorable settlements with IRS officials on behalf of taxpayers.
