Mark L. Hill

Biography

Mark L. Hill is a business-oriented Partner at Scheef & Stone, LLP with extensive experience handling complex business disputes including claims for breach of contract, fraud, violations of fiduciary duties, breach of non-compete covenants, theft of trade secrets, and regulatory compliance.  He has litigated claims arising in all of the following industries: construction, commercial lending and financing, technology, health care, hospitality, telecommunications, food service, manufacturing, and real estate development. 

Mark has successfully represented corporate and individual clients in both state and federal courts throughout Texas.  His practice also includes handling business divorce matters for majority owners and minority investors in private Texas companies, as well as prosecuting and defending claims against fiduciaries (officers/directors) including breach of fiduciary duty and shareholder derivative claims.  Mark represents both plaintiffs and defendants in business cases under hourly, contingent and hybrid fee arrangements.

Mark also dedicates a significant portion of his practice to advising and negotiating: Commercial Real Estate Acquisitions and Sales, Business Lending Transactions, Corporate/Partnership Agreements, Construction Contracts and Liens, Commercial Leases, and Corporate Employment Policies. 

Mark is President of the Collin County Bar Association for 2016-17.

Mark has been named a Texas Super Lawyer in both 2013 and 2014, and a Super Lawyer Rising Star multiple prior years, by Super Lawyers an annual publication of Thomson Reuters.

Mark serves on the Board of Directors of the Collin County Bar Association, and was a founding member of the Civil Litigation Section of the Collin County Bar Association.  Mark is also a member of the Dallas Bar Association, and Dallas Bar Association Business Litigation and Trial Skills Sections.  

Mark attended Texas A&M University and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance.  After graduating from Texas A&M, Mark attended St. Mary’s University School of Law, passing the bar exam prior to his graduation from law school in 2002.

Represented Real Estate (Owner/Developer) client, obtained judgment dismissing all claims against client and recovery of monetary sanctions against opposing party.

Represented Healthcare (Hospital) client in defense of employment discrimination suit.

Represented Business (large Bank) client in numerous commercial loan transaction and closing matters.

Represented Real Estate (Commercial Development) client, obtained favorable six figure judgment after multi-week jury trial in Dallas County suit.

Represented Business (Transportation) client, successfully defended class action suit and obtained order denying class certification in Dallas County suit.

Represented Business (Technology) client in employment dispute involving non-compete and confidentiality matters.

Represented Real Estate (Professional/Appraisal) client in regulatory dispute and compliance matter.
